A Custom Tune is a tune written specifically for you based on your modifications to your vehicle and/or your driving preferences. Custom Tunes can only be purchased by one of our Authorized Custom Tuning Dealers.
Typically there are 2 different ways to acquire a custom tune.
- Mail order tune - any of our Authorized Custom Tuning Dealers around the world are capable of creating and sending custom tunes remotely if you do not have a preferred Tuner locally. Typically your Tuner will then have you datalog your vehicle and make any changes needed that way if needed.
- A Dyno Tune is created by going to a speed shop/tuner in person with your vehicle, putting it on the dyno and having the tuner dial it in, in real-time.
Regarding custom tunes for aftermarket modifications:
There are a number of aftermarket parts that require custom tuning, but not all - Cold Air Intakes, Superchargers, etc. When purchasing or trying to determine if a kit or part will require custom tuning - it is best to confirm the part specs. Online sellers of aftermarket performance parts will list in the part specs if tuning is required - this indicates that the part is not a stock replacement, but will require custom tuning to account for the changes made by the part. Searching by the part number of the kit itself, is a quick and easy way to find online sellers that should have all the information you need.
What device should I get for custom tunes/Is one device better than others?
Vehicle and tune support can differ between devices, and each of our devices have different layouts and looks, as well as some differences in operation.
